Piano Keyboard Notes: Find Every Key
Find every piano keyboard note with the repeating black-key pattern. Learn white-key names, sharps and flats, then practise them on a virtual piano.

Use black-key landmarks
The keyboard repeats groups of two and three black keys. C is immediately to the left of every group of two; F is immediately to the left of every group of three. From either landmark, move through the musical alphabet A to G.
Short, focused sessions are more useful than occasional long sessions. Work slowly enough to notice errors, repeat a small section and finish with one relaxed play-through. A metronome can confirm your pulse, but accuracy and ease should come before speed.
Name accidentals
A black key can usually be described as the sharp of the white key below it or the flat of the white key above it. The virtual piano uses sharp labels for simplicity, while formal notation chooses spelling according to key and harmony.
